ARRT Professional Education and Growth Scholarship

In partnership with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the ASRT Foundation oversees the ARRT Professional Education and Growth Scholarship program, the purpose of which is to award at least one recipient per active affiliate each year up to $500 as reimbursement for the cost of CE, educational conferences or products, or ARRT primary or secondary certification exams.

Program Goals

The scholarship program is funded by ARRT to support continuing education and professional development for radiologic technologists, radiation therapists and sonographers. Education is the first of the three components of the ARRT Equation for Excellence (education, ethics and examination). Education and development are important prior to earning initial and postprimary certification, but also throughout a professional’s career to help keep knowledge and skills up to date in an ever-advancing health care industry.


Eligibility

To apply, program applicants must:

  • Be a current member of an active affiliate (as defined by the ASRT Bylaws) or be eligible to become a member of an affiliate.
  • Be a current ASRT member or be eligible for ASRT membership.
  • Submit a completed application.

ASRT Board of Trustees and ASRT staff are not eligible to apply to the program. However, affiliate leaders are eligible.

FAQ’s ARRT Scholarship

  • Only textbooks that have been approved by a RECEEM for CE credit are eligible for reimbursement. Required textbooks for school courses or registered university classes are not eligible.
  • Hotel fees, meals, gas, travel miles to and from a seminar or conference are not eligible for reimbursement.
  • All receipts must be submitted to the ASRT Foundation by the last day in August in the same year that the award was received by each recipient. Receipts that are not submitted on time will not be eligible for reimbursement.
  • Only affiliate memberships and first-time ASRT memberships are eligible for reimbursement.
  • State License Fees are not eligible for reimbursement.

Rules

This award has no cash value and is nontransferable.

The purpose of this scholarship program is to award at least one recipient per active affiliate each year up to $500 as reimbursement for the cost of CE, educational conferences or products, or ARRT primary or secondary certification exams. One recipient from each state will be selected from eligible applicants. Recipient costs related to travel, food and lodging at conferences or seminars is not covered by the ARRT scholarship award.

Applicants must agree to join the ASRT and ASRT state affiliate if selected as a recipient in order to receive reimbursement funds. If the recipient has never been an ASRT member, reimbursement for the expense of joining ASRT for one year will be provided through the program in addition to the $500 scholarship. Recipient may also obtain reimbursement for an affiliate membership (new or renewal) through this program in addition to the $500 scholarship.

Applicants are required to submit a short essay answering the following question: “How does acquiring and maintaining certification improve patient care?” All essays must be original and created by the applicant. Essays must not incorporate or include anything that violates any copyright, trademark, publicity right, privacy right or any other right of any third party. By applying to this program, all applicants accept any and all release stipulations from the ARRT, ASRT and ASRT Foundation to publish content from the applicant's essay, as well as applicant’s name, city and state. Please note: Applicants do not have to be recipients of the program for their information to be used for the purpose of marketing or promotions.

ASRT scholarship-incurred expenses will be reimbursed to selected participants once the ASRT Foundation has received receipts.
