Marilyn Scakett Leadership Scholarship

Marilyn Sackett, M.Ed., R.T.(R), FASRT, believes that for our profession to advance, we must have strong leaders, and to have strong leaders, we must prepare them today to tackle tomorrow’s health care needs. She feels so passionately about the philosophy that she created a scholarship to encourage R.T.s to accept the challenge of leadership.

The annual award of up to $5,000 supports expenses associated with leadership education or development. The financial assistance can be used to attend a local, national, or international meeting; to obtain and meet with a leadership mentor; to pursue an advanced degree or additional certification; or to complete a profession-related educational product or course.

One award will be given in the 2023-2024 year to a medical imaging or radiation therapy professional pursuing education or a development opportunity in education management, administrative management, or a quality management initiative that includes recruiting and working with a mentor.

The application period is now closed.

Applicants must define a leadership project related to healthcare education, administration or quality management and a plan for achieving it that encompasses several aspects including:

  • Desired outcome
  • Methodology
  • Budget
  • Timeline
  • Facility approvals (if required)

Applicants will also need to select a mentor and complete a mentor agreement defining the scope of their role in your project. A final project summary with sign off from the mentor must be submitted within three months from the completion of the approved activity.

The recipient will be reimbursed half of the award upon payment of the approved activity (receipts are required). Upon submission of proof of completion of the approved activity and project summary, the recipient will receive the other half of the award.
