Hurricane Matthew

In October 2016, Hurricane Matthew struck the Southeast U.S. and Haiti. The ASRT donated more than $5,000 to the American Red Cross through the ASRT Foundation's Disaster Relief Matching Program. This helped Red Cross volunteers provide immediate assistance with recovery efforts.

Nepal Earthquake

In April 2015, an earthquake struck Nepal, killing more than 8,000 people and injuring more than 19,000. The ASRT partnered with RAD-AID International to use money donated to the ASRT Foundation’s Disaster Relief Fund to send a team of two technologists and a radiologist to provide immediate emergency health care to victims in Nepal. The team worked at six different hospitals in the Kathmandu area.

Tornadoes in Midwest and South

For four days in April 2014, tornadoes caused destruction in Alabama, Arkansas, Kansas, Missouri, North Carolina, Oklahoma, Mississippi, Tennessee and Virginia. More than 27,000 ASRT members live in those states and the ASRT donated more than $5,000 to the Red Cross, through the ASRT Foundation’s Disaster Relief Matching Program, to help in recovery efforts.

Flooding in New Mexico and Colorado

In September 2013, Colorado and New Mexico experienced historic flooding, damaging many communities. More than 1,100 ASRT members live in the counties that were affected by this flooding. The ASRT donated $5,000 to the Colorado chapter of the Red Cross and $5,000 to the New Mexico chapter of the Red Cross. Support from the ASRT helped Red Cross volunteers immediately provide food, clothing and shelter to people forced out of their homes by the floods.
