Two medical imaging technologists and one radiation therapist have been selected to receive travel grants of up to $4,000 each that will make possible their attendance at educational and professional conferences this year. 2017 marks the second year that the ASRT Foundation and Siemens Healthineers have collaborated to award the grants.

This grant opportunity was developed to promote peer-to-peer education and support professional development in the radiologic technology community. Awarded funds help cover the cost of conference registration fees, travel and lodging for recipients who may not otherwise be able to attend an educational conference.

The recipients of the 2017 Siemens Education Journey Award are:

  • Kelly Bell, R.T.(R)(M)(CT), of Paradise Valley, Nevada, who will attend the Siemens Innovations for Imaging conference to be held in Atlanta in March.
  • Dale Bourgeois, R.T.(R)(N), of Richland, Washington, who will attend the ASRT Educational Symposium to be held in Orlando in June.
  • Rachel Dency, R.T.(T), of Coral Springs, Florida, who will attend the ASRT Radiation Therapy Conference to be held in San Diego in September.

“Siemens Healthineers is proud to align with the ASRT Foundation again in 2017, demonstrating our ongoing commitment to fostering continuing education opportunities for radiologic technologists,” said Nanci Wozniak, Vice President of Education Services at Siemens Healthineers. “It is our hope that receiving this grant will facilitate the development of new professional skills and improve workplace efficiency for recipients, which will translate into higher-quality patient outcomes in the future.”

ASRT Foundation Director Keith Greer said, “We are proud to partner with Siemens Healthineers again this year to offer this exciting opportunity to the medical imaging and radiation therapy community. The generous support of Siemens is helping create a bright future for the profession by facilitating knowledge sharing among professional colleagues.”
