The ASRT Foundation Announces International Speakers Exchange Award Recipients

ASRT members D. Richelle Heldwein, M.P.H., R.T.(R), CPHRM, and Fredrick D. Lee ll, Ed.D., R.T.(R), CRA, FACHE, have been selected as the 2025 ASRT Foundation International Speakers Exchange Award recipients.

Richelle Heldwein

Heldwein will present “Patient Safety: Everyone's a Risk Manager” at the 2025 Canadian Association of Medical Radiation Technologists Annual Meeting, May 2-3, in Alberta, Canada. Heldwein has spent more than 30 years in quality management and risk leadership roles in a hospital setting. She currently serves as the chief risk and compliance officer at St. John’s Health in Jackson, Wyoming, and is responsible for quality, risk, infection prevention, compliance and employee health. Heldwein has been an active member of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists since 1991 and has served in the House of Delegates as a state and chapter delegate for multiple years. She is also a member of the Idaho Society of Radiologic Technologists and has held numerous leadership positions.

Fredrick D. Lee ll

Dr. Lee will present “Enhancing Diagnostic Imaging Practices: Addressing Healthcare Disparities in Breast Cancer Treatment” at the 2025 United Kingdom Imaging and Oncology Congress, June 2-4, in Liverpool, England. Dr. Lee is the systems director of diagnostic imaging services for Alameda Health System in Oakland, California. At Kaiser Permanente he held roles as supervisor, assistant director and department director in diagnostic imaging. Dr. Lee’s clinical background includes experience as a radiologic technologist in radiography, interventional radiology and in cardiac catheterization. In 2024, he received a doctoral degree in organizational change and leadership from the University of Southern California.

For more than a decade, the ASRT Foundation has funded radiologic technologists to participate in the ISEA program. It promotes global cooperation through the sharing of research, best practices and professional development in the radiologic sciences. The ISEA program provides the opportunity for two outstanding ASRT members to travel to one international conference each year and present to an audience of their peers and other related health care professionals. It also provides speakers with the opportunity to forge important professional connections with international colleagues. The award includes conference registration, travel and lodging expenses and a stipend to cover related costs.
