While the last year of my life has been very stressful as I tried to balance work, school and kids, I continued to look forward to every day at the clinic.
I am a single mother of two trying to keep up with my boys' activities and school work as well as my own while working as much as I can. I love the people I work with and look forward to finishing school and having a career I love.
Thanks to the ASRT Foundation scholarship, most of my tuition and fees will be covered for my remaining year of school. This will allow me to work part time during the school year so that I can focus more on my studies. With more time for school, I will be better prepared to enter the workforce as a registered technologist next year.
While attending the ASRT Student Leadership Development Program, I was very eager to meet technologists from around the country. I never imagined I would meet so many people in one place that have so much passion for maintaining high standards and levels of involvement.
It was so inspiring for me to see people who truly love what they do and who give back to the profession. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for me as I look for my own opportunities to be involved and give back to groups that, in one short year, have already given me so much. I sincerely thank all of the contributors to the ASRT and the ASRT Foundation.
Without you, I would not have had the opportunity to learn about all that the medical imaging profession has to offer. I am honored to receive the Jerman-Cahoon Student Scholarship in recognition of two men who pioneered supportive education and community in a field where there are so many avenues one can pursue. I have a lot to accomplish toward the high goals of my future and I want to thank you all for giving me a jump start into the radiologic sciences.
