Saving Lives One Community Outreach Fellowship at a Time

The World Health Organization estimates that nearly two-thirds of the world’s population lacks access to radiologic health services. ASRT Foundation donors, like Siemens Healthineers, are changing that with their support.

Siemens sent six community outreach fellows to work in six countries with its support this year, making it possible for them to:

• Provide R.T.s with additional training and facilitate ways for them to learn at Lao Friends Hospital for Children in Laos.
• Train R.T.s to use a picture archiving and communication system at Korle Bu Teaching Hospital in Ghana.
• Educate local R.T.s on how to use newly installed equipment in Tanzania.
• Train R.T.s how to use one of only two magnetic resonance imaging systems in Ethiopia at Black Lion Hospital.
• Conduct a radiology readiness assessment to identify ways to improve patient care at Incan Cancer Hospital in Guatemala.
• Provide ongoing training to students and R.T.s at Kamuzu Central Hospital in Malawi.

The level of patient care that is available to the people who live in these regions has been greatly elevated thanks to Siemens. Because of the important work made possible by this generous gift, countless lives will be saved all around the world. Siemens' generosity has provided R.T.s the tools necessary to better serve their patients in these countries and to move the profession forward.
