Making Every Month Count

Rose MoraBeing an R.T. is more than a career to me; it is part of who I am. I have been an R.T. for the past 51 years, and even after retiring a few years ago I’m still working on-call at 69 years old. When I retired I wanted a less stressful schedule, but I didn’t want to stop doing something I’m so passionate about.

Throughout my career I have been involved with various societies at the state and national levels. I also worked in various positions, from staff technologist to director of radiology. No matter where my career led me, I always had the support of the ASRT and my colleagues. That support helped me get to where I am today.

I began donating to the ASRT Foundation 14 years ago because I saw the important work they were doing in the profession and wanted to be a part of it. This profession is my life, and helping to empower other medical imaging and radiation therapy professionals and students felt right.

I give to all of the schools I attended over the years as a way of paying forward what they helped me achieve. By the same token, it made sense to support the organization that has been there for me throughout my career.

Last year I decided to take advantage of the new monthly giving option the Foundation offers. I plan to continue giving to the Foundation for the rest of my life, and I want to be able to increase my support as I am able. Monthly giving allows me to donate more throughout the year by breaking up my contribution into smaller gifts. Also, I have a busy schedule, and this giving option is the easiest and most convenient way for me to support the professional community I love so much.

The tax deduction at the end of the year is beneficial; however, being able to support the meaningful programs the Foundation offers is the biggest benefit for me. I know that 100% of my donation every month is being used to change the lives of patients, students and professionals, and that is a great feeling.

Monthly giving is a relatively new option offered by the Foundation, and I know I was one of the first individuals to be a part of it. I hope others will follow my lead and become monthly donors as well. It is incredibly rewarding for me to know that I am able to make a larger impact on more lives. I’m sure it will be the same for you. So what are you waiting for? Join me as a monthly donor and see the difference we can make together!
