ASRT Foundation Announces Recipients of Education and Professional Growth Grants

Fifty ASRT members have been named to receive funds to support their continuing education and professional development in the Advancing Your Profession: Education and Professional Growth Grants program.

The grant program is funded by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists to support the professional and educational advancement of medical imaging technologists and radiation therapists. Grants of up to $500 are intended to reimburse recipients for the cost of CE, educational conferences or products, or ARRT primary or secondary certification exams and affiliate society membership expense.

Grant recipients submitted short essays answering the question: “How does acquiring and maintaining certification improve patient care?”

One recipient, Shana Temple, R.T.(R)(T)(M), of Colonial Heights, Virginia, described it this way, “In a field that rapidly changes due to advancements in technology and new research, it is imperative for health care professionals to stay up-to-date with their certification to provide optimal service to patients.”

Haley Correll, B.S., R.T.(R), of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, answered, in part, “What makes health care and health workers exceptional? Patient care. I believe it is the embodiment of what we do. In order to meet the demands and provide the exceptional care our patients deserve, it is imperative I acquire the knowledge behind our complex procedures.”

The Foundation selected one recipient per active ASRT state affiliate or local affiliate for the 2020-2021 program. They are:
