ARRT and ASRT Foundation Partner for Professional Growth Grants

Jun. 6, 2018

A grant administered by the ASRT Foundation will award up to 50 radiologic technologists $500 each to support educational costs and professional growth opportunities. Funded by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists, the Advancing Your Profession: Education and Professional Growth Grants program helps R.T.s keep their knowledge and skills up to date in the ever-advancing health care industry.

The awards will be presented to at least one recipient per active affiliate of the American Society of Radiologic Technologists. R.T.s may use the funds as reimbursement for educational conferences and selected professional development programs. Each applicant must be a member of ASRT and an active affiliate, or be eligible for membership for both. There are active ASRT affiliate societies in nearly every state.

According to Steve Hardy, M.S., R.T.(R)(T)(CT), CMD,  executive vice president of the ASRT Foundation, collaborating with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists is a natural fit for the program because both organizations are committed to helping R.T.s excel in the profession. “The reach of this program is outstanding as it supports radiologic technologists working in every state,” said Hardy. “We’re very excited this grant will cover first-time ASRT membership and a new or renewed membership in an ASRT affiliate. It’s an incredible opportunity for everyone.”

The award will provide up to $500 as reimbursement for the cost of continuing education, including:

Educational conferences.
CE products.
ARRT primary or secondary certification exam application fees.
A new or renewed ASRT affiliate membership.
ASRT first-time membership.
Academic courses are not eligible.

Applicants are required to submit a short essay answering the question: “How does acquiring and maintaining certification improve patient care?” The Foundation is accepting applications June 18  through Aug. 17, 2018. Grant recipients will be notified in mid-September.
