ASRT member Jenna N. Laquerre, B.S., R.T.(R), RDMS (AB, OB/GYN, PS, BR), RVT, was selected as the 2025 recipient of the Marilyn Sackett Leadership Scholarship in honor of Marilyn Sackett, M.Ed., R.T.(R), FASRT, who spent more than 50 years as a radiologic technologist.

Laquerre serves as an instructor and clinical coordinator for the diagnostic medical sonography program and is an adjunct faculty member in the radiography and medical imaging programs at Palm Beach State College in Lake Worth, Florida. She is registered in abdominal, pediatric, breast, and obstetrics and gynecological sonography, and vascular technology through the American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography. Laquerre is currently pursuing a master’s degree in instructional technology, training and development at the University of North Florida. She is a published author and most recently wrote the book “Lange Review: The Fundamentals of Pediatric Sonography: A Registry Review and Protocol Guide.”

“This scholarship extends beyond just me; it will touch the lives of every student I instruct, every colleague I collaborate with and every patient who benefits from the skills and knowledge I impart,” said Laquerre, who plans to use the scholarship to conduct research on leadership strategies in medical imaging and publish the findings in a professional journal.

The ASRT Foundation has offered the Marilyn Sackett Leadership Scholarship for three years; it provides up to $5,000 to a medical imaging or radiation therapy professional pursuing education or a development opportunity in education or administrative management or a quality management initiative that includes recruiting and working with a mentor. Sackett created the program to encourage radiologic technologists to accept leadership challenges, which in turn helps advance the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession.
