ASRT member Amanda M. Price, M.Ed., R.T.(R), was selected as the 2024-2025 recipient of the Marilyn Sackett Leadership Scholarship.

Price serves as an educator and clinical coordinator at Southern Regional Technical College in Thomasville, Georgia, and is pursuing a doctorate in curriculum and instruction at Mercer University in Macon.

Price’s research will primarily focus on enhancing student study methods and predicting academic performance. Technical institution educators have noticed a lack of college readiness in adult learners, especially effective studying skills. As a technical educator for a radiologic technology program, she plans to investigate how using metacognitive study skills as intervention practices — the intentional ability to process how one thinks and learns — may impact students’ abilities and success. Her dedication to adult educational research drives her toward developing interventions that establish strong learning foundations.

The scholarship is named in honor of Marilyn Sackett, M.Ed., R.T.(R), FASRT, who spent more than 50 years as a radiologic technologist. Sackett created the program to encourage radiologic technologists to accept leadership challenges. She believes that leadership advances the medical imaging and radiation therapy profession.

This is the second year the ASRT Foundation has offered the Marilyn Sackett Leadership Scholarship. It provides up to $5,000 to a medical imaging or radiation therapy professional pursuing an education or a development opportunity in education management, administrative management or a quality management initiative that includes recruiting and working with a mentor.
