The End Goal Is the Same

Cory NeilMy recent community outreach visit to China was an incredible experience.

It would not have been possible without the generosity of ASRT Foundation donors. Thank you to everyone who supports these volunteer opportunities. You continue to make it achievable for other therapists.

I started in the radiologic technology field with the help of other professionals. Now, for the past 10 years, radiation therapy has been a central part of my life. I have reached this point in my career because other professionals believed in investing their time and talents in me. It is rewarding to continue their legacy of helping others succeed. I’m excited to share my knowledge and resources with new professionals in the field.

Our time is valuable and we want to spend it where it is going to make the biggest impact. I learned about RAD-AID International a few years ago and did some research into their partnership with the ASRT Foundation. For many regions of the world, their education initiatives are a precious resource. The principles, integrity and mission of the program resonated with my core values. I was impressed.

I wanted to be a part of the good work the Foundation and RAD-AID were doing. I was intimidated to submit an application, but I had people supporting me every step of the way. And I dreamed of helping others through the radiation therapy fellowship in China.

It wasn’t long before I was on my way to Yinchuan, China. I was able to share my knowledge with the local team and learned from them as well. Despite the language barrier I immediately began bonding with the local therapists. We had thoughtful discussions and collaboration. Although we may do things differently, our end goal is the same: to improve patients’ lives.

If you, too, want to contribute to radiologic technology’s role in global health, then this program is for you. As cliché as this may sound, I truly believe that one person can make a difference. You should learn more about the Foundation’s fellowship program and their partnership with RAD-AID international. You’ll be surprised where their global initiatives may take you.
