The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists has pledged $250,000 to the ASRT Foundation’s 30th anniversary celebration campaign, Positioning for a Brighter Tomorrow. A long-standing partner of the ASRT Foundation, the ARRT has supported education and scholarships for radiologic technologists through programs like the Royce Osborn Minority Student Scholarship and the Advancing Your Profession: Education and Professional Growth Grants program.
The ARRT’s donation served as the catalyst for the campaign to reach the $1 million milestone in commitments from individuals and organizations. The funds raised for this multimillion-dollar campaign will be used to develop scholarships, grants and other programs for radiologic technology educators, students and clinical personnel.
According to Jeffrey Crowley, B.S., R.R.A., R.T.(R)(VI), president of the ARRT Board of Trustees, the donation is a natural step for the Registry as it will contribute to the advancement of the profession. “We are especially pleased to be a part of the important work of the ASRT Foundation in providing opportunities that range from introductory student scholarships to professional scholarships for additional education. Education, together with the certification and registration our organization provides, is key to building upon the profession’s reputation for delivering quality health care and services to patients.”
In addition, ARRT Executive Director Jerry B. Reid, Ph.D., said, “We congratulate the ASRT Foundation on its 30 years of outstanding service and its commitment to educational assistance. We are proud to play a part in this campaign and grateful for the ASRT Foundation’s support of the next generation of leaders in this profession.”
In gratitude of the significant contribution, ASRT is naming a study room in the ASRT Museum and Archives after the ARRT. The ASRT Museum and Archives is scheduled to open in the ASRT office in June 2015. The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Museum Study Center will provide visiting scholars and historians with a dedicated space to perform research on the history of radiologic technology.
